Andersen Silva's Journal It was around 6:21 PM yesterday, if I recall correctly. I met my former Microwize colleague Sally at Stout for drinks and a quick bite to eat. When I got there, though, she met me at the door and said we had to go someplace else, as it was too loud and too crowded in there, and I quickly agreed, so she finished her merlot and we went next door to Fat Annie's instead. After ordering another Merlot and a Magic Hat #9, though, we decided that the menu left a bit to be desired; upon consuming our drinks, we headed for destination number three, Tracks in Penn Station. It was nice to catch up (over more drinks, of course) and chat. The location worked out well for us both, too, because at about five minutes to 8 PM, we both had to split: Sally for the train back home to Jersey, and me for the WaMu Theater and Tori Amos! My first Tori show was in the company of a redhead, and while I was feeling the lack of one this time around, I have to say that I liked the performance better at this concert, as she had a full band with her and it gave some of the tracks that extra power. Tori was incredible as always, and she opened with "Body and Soul," one of many tracks from the current album American Doll Posse which she showcased. She didn't ignore us long-time fans, though, throwing in "Winter," "Cornflake Girl," "Space Dog," "A Sorta Fairytale," and others from her older albums, too. Wonderbulous show! My only real complaints were that the older couple seated directly in front of me were shaking and swaying and waving their hands, generally behaving as though they believed they were at a Flo & Eddie concert instead, and some idiot across the aisle to my right was hootin' and hollerin' as though he were at a Skynyrd show. Some people can't just let others enjoy... Now I'm off to a birthday party for my friend Barbara's friend Stephanie, which should be fun, too. And tomorrow is my nephew Cayden's birthday party... Current mood: Current music: "Digital Ghost" by Tori Amos. |
