Andersen Silva's Journal

1st February, 2007. 8:02 am. February 1

Another cold one last night; that shot of Goldschläger when I got home from work helped warm me up, though.

Despite the recent pain and stiffness in my left forearm, I've been busily selling myself to the Internet again; YouTube's got some video content, mp3s are up at iJigg and iSOUND and I don't know where else... I also published a newsletter at LetterPop; it's mostly just me whoring out my music again.  ;)  Hey, somebody has to do it. I don't see too many of my friends pushing my music and my Web sites on people, so I guess I have to do it myself. C'mon, people, some of you watch "American Idol!" You know I'm not that bad. Plenty of bands out there have networks of people who help promote 'em; I need a piece of that.

I wasn't all that thrilled with LetterPop's performance. The interface is nice, but you're rigidly forced to use their templates, and apparently you can't even resize pictures. Well, it's free, and I think the newsletter turned out pretty well, so I can't complain. I'm also putting the finishing touches on an ad for the Aquarian Weekly's upcoming annual Music Directory. Of course, it looks like my 32" TV is coming in today or tomorrow, and Jonathan and I are going onsite to three clients' offices this afternoon and tomorrow, and I'm taking my parents out for dinner on Saturday, so it's going to be hard to find time to be productive... but I needs must. I do need to rest this arm, too, however. Should be fun trying to find a happy medium. Maybe an apathetic large... I ordered more RAM for the PowerBook last night, too. At one point, I had the Gimp, Inkscape, Safari, Mail, and Adium running simultaneously, and while the job(s) got done, I did see a bit of sluggishness. A memory upgrade ought to help.  :)

The other morning while riding the bus from Ridgewood to Paramus, I ran iStumbler on the PowerBook. It's basically a WiFi sniffer, and I was somewhat astonished to come across somewhere around 60 wireless networks during the twelve-minute ride, and to find that, even now, at least 70% of them were open and unsecured. If the bus were moving more slowly, I'd have been able to maintain an almost unbroken connection to the Internet.  lol

Current mood: accomplished.
Current music: "Only" by Nine Inch Nails.
