Andersen Silva's Journal

12th September, 2006. 8:47 pm. Hooo-eeeee!

I'm having black beans and rice with some spicy andouille sausage, which is being washed down with a Killian's Red. M’m! M’m! Good! Later, dessert will consist of the last slab of Shawn's leftover birthday cake (my nephew celebrated his first birthday last week) and maybe a bit of the half-pound Hershey bar Kerri brought me back from Hershey Park. I love chocolate, but it's taking me a little time to get through that thing...

Over the past few days, I've been downloading updates for a lot of the software on Trinity, the PowerBook, including the GIMP, jEdit, the Missing Sync, and, just today, iTunes 7 and the QuickTime update. I'd rather Apple had left the green icon for iTunes, but... whatever. The app itself does look spiffier, as do the new iPods. I've got enough expenses, though, and won't be buying one. Now, if the rumors are true and Apple is working on its own phone...

I love my Treo 600, and I've been eyeing the 700, but so far the only 700p available is a CDMA model; T-Mobile has a GSM network, which I'm comfortable with. Even if a GSM 700p is eventually released, it doesn't seem likely that T-Mobile is going to have a high-speed Internet option available like Verizon does. I may end up gritting my teeth and changing carriers... but if an Apple iPhone is announced, I'm going to have to check it out thoroughly. If they do it right, and it can replace all the major functions of my Treo, I am so there.

Speaking of there, I've also started packing, sorta, for Vegas. Mark and I are leaving Friday evening, and Mike and Fred are joining us on Sunday. Hopefully, we can manage to mix the business and pleasure more or less equally; the MediNotes conference will take a lot of our time, but Mark and I have made sure that we have some time to check out Sin City before the work starts.

Current mood: indescribable.
Current music: "Pop! The First 20 Hits" by Erasure (yeah, Erasure).
