Andersen Silva's Journal

20th June, 2006. 6:42 am. Eu te amo, meu Brasil, eu te amo

Well, OK, maybe that's a little strong... Definite like, though. I got my hair cut at Astor Place in New York, where I usually go (hey, it's cheap and quick), Saturday afternoon. The guys who weren't cutting or styling hair were watching the World Cup US team embarrass Italy into a draw, and Sal told me about the American goal as he started snipping away. If Italia keeps playing like that, they'll never face Brasil in the finals. ;)

I picked up Queensrÿche's "Operation: Mindcrime II" Saturday evening at Virgin (no, not Jane Leeves). It's definitely not as good as the mind-blowing original, but it's not bad at all. Geoff Tate's voice, while still impressive, doesn't have quite the range it did 'back in the day,' and Ronnie James Dio as Dr. X is cool, but the voice we heard briefly on the first album telling Nikki to kill Mary and the priest was distinctly deeper. Well, I need to give the sequel a few more listens, but overall I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Jim Kukral is running an interesting experiment: set up three computers, one running Windows, one running Linux, and one running OS X, and see which one can hold out the longest against malware and spam. I'll be keeping an eye on DiaryofDestruction.com.

Current mood: contemplative.
Current music: "Operation: Mindcrime II" by Queensrÿche.
